I have a real soft spot for lizards, especially geckos. This series features a glassmaker’s technique translated into polymer clay. I’ve utilized translucent clay with various metals, both leaf and mica, mixed in. The top side of each gecko has green pigment, with a swirling pattern of gold mica, punctuated with sparkly white flowers. The belly of each is translucent cream with silver swirling vines and flowers. The bulbous toes are gold colored clay infused with gold mica. The wearable sculpture had been mistaken for Venetian glass when I wore it on a recent visit to Italy. |
