This series is inspired by the little hatchlings that have to start off their life with a death-defying dash for the relative safety of the surf. My baby sea turtles have a shell of kaleidoscopic colors or angel fish, surrounded by a border of stylized yellow seahorses. The bottom carapace is translucent clay suggesting shells, bubbles, and starfish. I think the skin is most interesting. It almost looks like a small calico print, but on closer inspection it is a surf’s edge of pebbles, seashells and starfish. This is a piece that may be best appreciated with a magnifying lens. |

Number two in a series of four has a kaleidoscope shell, “surf’s edge” skin and a lower carapace of translucent clay with a pattern suggesting shells, starfish and bubbles. |
Number three in a series of four features blue angelfish on the shell, and skin of sand, pebbles, and sea-shells. All sea turtles have a bottom carapace of the translucent pattern. |
Number four in a series of four has angelfish on the shell, and skin with neutral sand, pebbles, and pink seashells. |
