The subject is based on a salute to the tree frogs, which fill my summer nights with their song. I sometimes will even find one hanging with their sticky toes from a second story window at my home! This series is done in the Mokume Gane technique, which is borrowed from an ancient Japanese metal working technique translated into polymer clay. The topside of each frog is multiple hues of clay mixed with mica. The underside of each piece uses the Mokume Gane with transparent clays and various metal leaf. One of the frogs is shown in song. |

Number four in a series of four has a brilliant Mokume Gane pattern of greens, gold leaf, and black. The belly is a crackle pattern of translucent clay and red gold leaf. This piece represents a treefrog in song. |
Number three in a series of four features brilliant, neon colors in Mokume Gane pattern and a belly of white, gold, red gold and transparencies. Head cocked and looking up. |
Number two in a series of four features multi colored Mokume Gane style clay and a belly of red and gold pattern. This one has his left leg stretched out behind him as if he’s ready to begin a climb. |
